Lambasingi winter morning

Frost in Andhra Pradesh, if the timing is right

2 days · about 136 km round trip · 1 stop

Two days up at Chintapalli and Lambasingi, timed so that you are at the Thajangi reservoir at sunrise, when the cold the village is known for is actually there.

This trip exists because of one detail: Lambasingi is cold on winter mornings and ordinary at midday. Arriving at the wrong hour is the single most common disappointment people report about the place.

So the plan puts you up there the night before and out at the reservoir at first light. The rest of the two days is the Chintapalli road, the pine stands and the apple and strawberry plots.

It is worth saying plainly: frost is not guaranteed. It happens on the coldest mornings between November and January, and nobody can promise weather. What we can promise is being in the right place at the right hour.

The route

  1. Visakhapatnam → Lambasingi68 km · about 68 minutes driving
  2. Lambasingi → Visakhapatnam68 km · about 68 minutes driving

Driving time only. A tour does not drive straight through.

Day by day

  1. Day 1Drive up through the ghats to Chintapalli, with the afternoon for the pine stands and the plots around Lambasingi.
  2. Day 2Out to the Thajangi reservoir before sunrise, breakfast afterwards, then the road back to Visakhapatnam.
